Quality and great design... at a price!
Is it worth the AU price, given that the DWE7491-RS (US version) also comes with the rolling stand (sold separately here). No. Will you be disappointed if you buy any other brand in this class. Probably. One of those tools where you grit your teeth and pay the asking price. The wallet pain will be forgotten long before this saw stops performing. The Good: Solidly built, compact, most used accessories can be stored securely on the saw itself. Extendable rack and pinion fence system. Minimal assembly required. Now shipping with the newer clear split blade guard. Many other excellent and useful features (check out the videos). 3 year (limited) warranty. The Bad: Included miter gauge is not a tight fit as the t slots tend to have high spots in the coating. 5/8 (16mm) bore for AU model. Could be difficult to find a variety of blades in Australia with that bore size as reduction bushings are not recommended for this saw. More plastic than I would like to see at this price. Blade lift mechanism not shielded from dust, will require periodic cleaning to ensure the blade raises and lowers smoothly. Price. If you can afford it, buy one. If you can't afford it, save up and buy one anyway...
