Although overhauling engines is not something every farmer will tackle, those who are willing to try can save thousands of dollars in repair costs each year.

For any engine outside of its warranty period, there is always the option of overhauling it in the farm workshop, provided time is available.

Often with older equipment of low value, the services of a mechanic cannot be justified and the options are to repair it in the farm workshop or scrap it.  Most tools are expensive and are only with buying if they can be used for other jobs.  Alternatively, they can be borrowed from a neighbour or even hired.
